What does it mean to know oneself?

It is all about paying attention to our inner world as well as the outer. It is about discovering what we really think, believe and feel. Knowing ourselves gives us the all-important choice to change ourselves, if we wish –  because we cannot change what we don’t know.

Be aware of what you think and believe

We often think we believe in something while deep down disagreeing with ourselves. The only way to examine what we really believe is by reviewing the content of our mind, conscious and unconscious. Non-judgmental awareness of our thoughts can help us think freely and not hide things from ourselves.

Know your emotions

Most of us try to suppress or escape our emotions, refusing to FEEL them. If we don’t feel our emotions, they become repressed and influence our choices without us knowing it. By feeling emotions, we free our options too.

Know the effects of your beliefs, emotions and thoughts.

The power of a belief, such as ‘I am not worthy,’ and the negative emotions connected with it, can cripple us for life. However, once we become aware of their influence, we’ll be more interested in examining and dealing with them.

Know your body

Our body is a miraculous living organism of enormous complexities and intelligence. It’s high time to get better acquainted with it, because learning about it can teach us who we are and how to live well.

Know the relationship between mind, body and emotions

Nothing is separate, and everything is interconnected. Body, mind, and emotions are all part of one thing, ourselves.

Know your relationship to the world

Is the World part of us or something separate outside ourselves to worship or destroy? Among others, quantum physicists believe that the whole universe is an interdependent mass of energetic vibrations.
